How To Know if You Need AC Repair?
With almost 300 sunny days per year in our warm city you don’t want to get caught with a faulty or even broken AC. Routine maintenance is always the best solution to keep things running smooth. You should have a yearly tune up of you A/C unless your unit is on all day, everyday. Then we recommend a checkup every six months.
But how do you know if your air conditioner needs to be repaired?
Well there are a number of things that could signify that your AC needs to a service. If any of the following is happening to your AC it’s time to get us out to take a look at your unit.
Warm Air – Air conditioner not cooling? If you fell warm air blowing out of the vents as your then first of all make sure the unit is set to the cooling mode. Someone may have changed the setting by accident. If it is to cooling mode with a reasonable temperature but you still have warm air blowing then it might be a restricted airflow or a compressor issue. Both of these need to be fixed.
Insufficient Airflow – Having poor airflow is another common sign of an air conditioner that isn’t working efficiently. It might be a blockage in the ductwork. A broken motor or even a clogged air filter. We can fix these issues and replace any parts that need replacing.
Water Leaks – An air conditioner should never be leaking water. If you have a leak something is wrong. Condensation may occur at times but you should never see water pooling up or an active leak you can see dripping. This is a very obvious sign that your cooling system isn’t running properly. If you have a Freon leak this needs to be dealt with ASAP!
High Humidity – Humidity and stickiness should remain outside. If an air conditioner is operating correctly it will moderate the humidity inside your home or place of business. If your AC can’t moderate humidity indoor then you need AC repair. You might need a simple re-calibration of your unit or the issue could be something more complex.
Bad Odors – If there is a bad smell coming from your HVAC system then you need to deal with it before it gets worse. It might be that the unit needs a cleaning, or the ducts need a cleaning. Or your cooling system needs a more complex solution as something is not working in the AC that is causing the smell.
Unusual Noises – Most air conditioners run very quiet. If you suddenly hear loud noises. Unusual noises, rattling or even buzzing then something could be loose inside the A/C. A whistling or grinding noise generally indicates a serious issue that needs to be dealt with ASAP to prevent further damage.
